Mitokh Dapeinu | Jewish-Moroccan Entanglements: A Past that Is Ever Present
Mitokh Dapeinu will meet for its next session on Thursday, December 11 at 7:00 PM EST. This session will discuss how Moroccan Jews participated in their society and how their negotiated emigration has left a void that Moroccans are still trying to understand. For this special session, we’re honored to have esteemed professor Dr. Brahim El Guabli, and we're excited to welcome back Aisha “Asher” Coh, MD of Intergenerational Jews. This session features three scholarly articles for a total of fewer than 50 pages, as well as an optional collection of music and poetry.
We ask that participants read the articles and prepare at least one discussion question.
After registering, you’ll receive an email with the session selection. You’ll receive the Zoom link by email at least one day before. Please contact Emanuel if you don’t receive either.
This session is dedicated to the memory of Sion Assidon (z"l), who passed away on November 7 under suspicious circumstances. Born in 1948 in Agadir, Assidon was a prolific Amazigh Moroccan Jewish activist who fought for human rights and spearheaded the BDS movement in Morocco.
